How much do you pay on uniforms? I would like to add shoes to our uniforms but I just bought everyone 2-3 sets of clothes, and can't really afford to buy shoes for my whole staff. I was thinking that from now on I'll just pay 1/2 on uniforms and maybe give a few choices on shoe styles. WDYD?

Some uniforms are really expensive! I think you might have been overly generous .... what about if you purchased one set per year, and then made additional available at cost?

As far as shoes .... if I was an employee I don't think I'd be upset if I had to purchase my own within appropriate guidelines (e.g. solid color black or white .... no neon logos)

You've got to buy at least one set, paid in full by you. Perhaps 2 sets for full time therapists. 1 for part timers.

I agree with Val about offering them additional sets at cost. Basically, that means that if they aren't up to the task of frequent laundering, then they can buy extras. But you've provided enough that they don't have to wash their uniform every single night.

On shoes, I want to make sure you're understanding the difference between telling them what styles to buy vs. guidelines. You cant insist they buy brand A, B, C. (Though you could show those as examples only.) You can specifiy something like "black soft-tread flat shoes, no athletic-style shoes, must be all black w/o other colors."

Good idea, thanks. We've just had some big clunky boots that don't go with our uniforms at all, and in the summer old birks or flops, not too professional.
