Was curious if anyone has ever looked into or have actually done a Brochure "jacket" instead of re-printing a new brochure every time you increase prices or change services.

I'm about to go up on my prices and change up my menu and thought maybe it would be more beneficial to have some kind of "jacket" that looks like the outside of my brochure that i have now, and just create the inside on my own and make copies of the inside at Office Depot to help save on costs!! (on pretty paper ofcourse!!) Any thoughts????

Thanks,

I've considered that option. I'm usually in some sort of quandary about our brochure--so much informatio to convey about the products and the ins and outs of private labeling, how it works, etc. I swear I change something on that thing every week, 1) because I'm obsessive compulsive, and 2) because I just really want everyone to have the latest information.

So for the last 4 years or so I've been using white folders w/our logo on them, and I do digital copies on laser paper for the inside so they're pretty clean. Now I've got two bookets in there, on one side it's all the pricing info gathered together in a booklet, the other side is everything else in the other booklet. I think it makes it a little easier to browse through.

So long story long, I think it's a good idea so that you can flex with the seasons, price changes, etc. Just make sure to put effective dates in the footer of each page, and keep a copy of each one in case someone calls and is looking at an old version.

I too am obsessive compulsive!!! I check, recheck and change something almost all the time!! I drive myself crazy!!! Thats why i thought i'd like the "flexability" of being able to make changes within the brochure "jacket" on the inserts. Having inserts makes me feel more in control!!hahaha
Thanks for your input Lisa!

I agree the brochure with inserts sounds good in theory but in reality I have found the inserts fall out and can be a mess. I have tried them as have other spaowners that I know-we all agreed no more inserts! They just don't end up looking as professional-kinda like a private label product that you have to glue your own label on-it's hard to get them straight and even......

I opted with the trifold paper brochure, as pleasant looking as I could come up with, professionally printed, but not too expensive. My plan was to put one in every persons' hand that walked through the door, and at every salon and business place I frequented, and anywhere else I could without makeing a scene!!! I couldn't make them too expensive and still do this. We have gone through so many menus I couldn't count them, so each time we place a new order, we have an opportunity to make changes... The effective date on the bottom of the menu is a great idea... so far we've been lucky that no one has balked at any changes we've made. I will add that one, thanks for the idea!

My recommendation is for brochures that have the all the regular menu items printed inside. Then add 1 insert card, printed front and back. The insert has your prices and a specialty or seasonal treatment.

Have the brochures & inserts professionally designed. The brochures should be professionally printed, but the inserts (if you keep them simple) can be done by you. Better on an inexpensive laser printer, than an ink jet.

Same with a postcard campaign. Have the front side professionally printed, then you can do the back side w/ the laser printer.

Yes! A compact but appealingly designed brochure is all the statement you need to make with it. Some spa brochures are so heavy in content that they fatigue the reader. They're just not that interested. Besides, brochures are not what does the majority of the selling for the spa, anyway. Leave that to your own speaking voice and your company website. The brochure can act as a sort of call to attention for business itself. Your prospective client can get the full story on the web. Save your printing dollars for a great site design! Here some options for those of you that want to hire it out:

At our spa, we purchase the outside cover that has professional printing on the the front and back. The we print on the inside but also have other sheets inside that fold in half as well. Giving us 8 to 12 pages depending on what we're putting in. When printed in our color laser printer you can't tell that it's all done in-house. This way we can change the menus monthly if we have to or when ever we need to.

NOW HERE'S THE KICKER!!! I have a page where I actually promote/advertise a couple of my alliance parternst that are in similar businesses. I charge them a monthly fee to be in all of our brochures/menus. Basically, I'm covering the cost of paper, ink toners, time to put them together, and a couple of other costs. I got the idea when I ate at the Cheese Cake Factory. If you look at their menus they sell advertisments in them.

I can help you design one or a couple if you need any help. Just let me know.

Aleks,

WoW! What a great idea! I'm just a solo esty, so my 'brochure' isn't near what your spa's brochure sounds like. But i so appreciate your kindness in offering to help me out! I posted that in Sept. and have already bit the bullet and had some printed up! In fact, they were supposed to be ready by Dec. 1st, and well...now i was told i could get them on dec. 4th! Oh well, just a few days shy of when i told my clients i would have the new brochures with the.....NEW (higher) prices!!! I totally stream-lined my brochure/services. When i first started out on my own, i had tooo many choices and way to much info on each facial...confusion city!
Now its ...FACIALS: Customized Facial, Acne Facial and Express Facial
TREATMENTS: Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peel
botta-bing....botta-boom!

If you have the ability to email a copy of your brochure, i would love to see it, as I'm sure others as well!
Do you have a website? If so, post that so i can see your place!!

Thanks again for your kindness and willingness to help me out!!
