Full Version: Where Does Your Revenue Come From?

I'm curious which services are generating the highest revenue for others? For example, so far this month 54% of my revenue has come from facial services (including peels), 25% waxing services, 21% retail.

My YTD numbers break down virtually the same as above so I seem to be consistent. Anyone else care to share their breakdown? I have no idea what is average, or what I should be shooting for with respect to retail percentage. I don't mind waxing and it helps pay the bills, but I'd prefer to do less because I'm finding little retail opportunity with the clients who only come in for waxing services. If they are also facial/peel clients they tend to buy retail pretty consistently. Heading into the 4th quarter for 2006 I'm setting some goals for next year and would love to know what to focus on. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Jaya Savannah
Not suggestions so much as to say that you're looking at your #'s right.

As is, they're not out of line. But if you put more emphasis on building facial services, you'll really tip the scales because more retail comes along with it! You're correct in your thinking.

Try to convert more waxing clients to facials.
Make sure you're doing your darndest to get facial clients to rebook more consistently.

It's golden, after you flip it even more towards facial treatments! good.gif

Good tips Jaya. Maybe I should start another thread for this, but can we talk retention here too? What is considered a great retention rate?

Most of what I generate comes from retail and then services (facials). I do very little waxing. Primarily just the face and usually only with a facial, not stand alone appointments.

Retail is much easier than physical labor!

I just charted this yesterday.
My current biz has been open 4 months. I am a solo with a partial clientele. Still room to grow.

Revenue so far has been $28000.
breakdown is like this:

Makeup retail: $9,000
Skincare retail:$ 6,500
Facials: $5000
Bridal Service:$5000
Waxing:$2,500

Like Aleks says, retail is a lot less work. Also, I concentrate on makeup because
a. I love it.
and b. I don't have to get them in a facial to sell it.

Thanks for the topic, I just realized I am going to make a retail only day.
Yay!!

OMG Amy those are fabulous numbers!! Love that retail huh? That really needs to be my goal for 2007...at least double the retail I'm doing now would be just peachy! I need to work on my make-up skills. There is a reason that some of us have wardrobes full of black, white and neutrals....because we stink at colors. I, unfortunately, am one of those people so make-up is a bit of a challenge for me, but I'm willing to try harder if I can sell the heck out of it!

My goal is becoming sharply focused and I see a dollar sign in the picture$

Yes, do more makeup.
Your clients WANT to buy it.
My numbers are also reflecting the fact that I have brides coming in on the week-ends.
Can you develop that side of your biz?

Big Hug,
Amy

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! I hope I'm that successful when I'm out on my own (in about a year). How many hours are you working a week?
I so want to get into the bridal beauty biz. My first bride was so sweet (and so willing to spend money!) . But right now just want to get more experience and build up my rep.
Can you share more about how you work with brides?

I have been through hell and back on this journey and I can only say that I eat breath and sleep this buisness. I am so passionate that what I have to offer is going to be of benefit.

Also, I work 6 to 7 days a week and sometimes put in 70 hours. sad.gif
So if you look at that I am not doing that great!

The other dynamic is that I am offering something unique in my area so I don't have to compete with a skincare studio on every block.

I have room to grow and improve. I really wnat to support myself with this biz and that means constanly looking for more ways to make $$$

The Bridal Biz. I have made alliances with the hotels in my areas. Their wedding co-ordinators are often my clients. This has been a BIG help.
I give facials away to these gals and let them know that their brides will be treated like queens.
Brides love to not go to salons, and come to a skin studio instead.

My biggest secret of success for working with Brides?
I have a hairstylist come to my studio too.
We don't cut hair, just style on the days brides are there. This enables me to more makeup as hair is a more requested service.
Not only that, but I recently signed a contract with one hair gal that gives me 40% of every service. This will help with the promotion etc and makes it worthwhile.
Hope this helps...gotta run.
